School Break Overlap and Guesthouse Occupancy in Jeollanam-do
Domestic family bookings spike when Seoul metro school calendars diverge from provincial breaks—a detail that simple monthly averages hide.
Provincial guesthouses feel the sting of calendar misalignment every spring. Seoul metro school breaks often start one week earlier than Jeollanam-do breaks. Families from the capital arrive while local schools remain in session—quiet weekdays for some hosts, surprise midweek peaks for others.
Monthly occupancy averages flatten this pattern into misleading midpoints. A guesthouse collective pooling data across six Yeosu properties saw midweek occupancy jump fourteen points during the gap week, driven almost entirely by Gyeonggi-origin bookings with children.
We recommend guesthouse rate cards note both calendars explicitly. Atlas chapters on domestic travel include a calendar overlay plate when clients provide their academic-year tags.
